Ha! Now I don't feel so ashamed of liking Phil Collins. In fact I feel pretty good! ;D I was way too old for all that NKOTB, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson crap (no offence guys). Like I said the closest thing to bubblegum that I got was Wham and that was in '84. Henry Rollins is a god! I love that man! If you want a good read I suggest See a Grown Man Cry Now Watch Him Die. The man can write! Oh yeah, when I was five I liked the MiniPops. But heck, I was five!

before the cure for me, it was 70's singer-songwriters like carly simon/ carpenters/ james taylor, 60's rock bands- who/ beatles/ stones, and early 80's stuff- police/ U2/ prince. I really liked some of it (& still do) but nothing truly resonated... basically I just listened to learn how to play it and then moved on. didn't even hear the cure until college- all it took was the opening bass & drums to fascination street to be hooked forever! almost drove my car off the road when I heard it for the first time.

Before The Cure it was 54-40... Mannnn did I love them. I still do, but not as much as The Cure. Def Leppard too...also, they're a lesser obsession now.

I was in to U2 (before they had made any good stuff) and Simple Minds (the dodgy, stadium albums), but we are talking 1988 here.
The Cure were just a beginning music wise, many doors weere opened.

I saw Mogwai at Hyde park last year, great music for laying on your back and watching the clouds with a belly full of ice cream.

I really didn't like Mogwai. Curiosa was the 1st time I had ever seen them and for me, it was actually painful to listen to. It's just my opinion, no offense to anyone who likes them.

none taken, wendi! missed seeing them live (we were late to curiosa) but I've been told it was... LOUD! I'm not a big fan of really loud concerts- once you lose your hearing, it doesn't come back. the cure was actually mixed way too loud in mansfield, too... disappointing, because all it did was muddy the bass.

I actually had to suffer through Mogwai twice. Once in Fla and once in GA. They did like 4 songs and it all sounded the same to me.
