I hated Bombadil in the book, really wanted to go out and punch the tree hugging hippy crap out of him, and I usually like that sort of stuff! I wouldn't have been able to watch the film if he was still in.
And as for Arwen, they had to give Liv something to do so people like me could sit there and drool while she did it. Personally I'd have written in some nude scenes.

I liked the movies, I was just disappointed because they left certain things out. *shrug*

The movies were fine enough, but I'm a book purist, and that's one of my favorites. It was my biggest "obession" until The Cure kinda pulled ahead. The Lord of the Rings shrine is still bigger, though. hah.
What really made me mad (for unknown reasons) is how they would just tweak little things. Like it wasn't good enough in the beginning or something. Like, even saying "Samwise the Brave" instead of "Samwise the Stout-hearted." And don't let me get started on the Ent moot...

I liked the way they looked, definitely. But the moot itself... entirely wrong and angering. It took more time out of the movie to do that crap. They could've done it the right way, and then they wouldn't have had to cut out other stuff.
