Is One Hundred Years the best start to a Cure album that there is?! I think so, and it still sounds awesome to this day, and hopefully will be even more so when it comes out remastered in a few weeks! My personal favourite from Pornography is Siamese Twins, there's something in the doleful and listless sound that captures the mood so perfectly. The Figurehead and A Strange Day both sound collossal. The rage that beats in the heart of Pornography (the song) pushes it to that great ending "I must fight this sickness, find a cure". I think it probably is the boys' darkest hour, but if you've not heard it dont be fooled by the lazy reviews, it's not a 'depressing' album. It's angry, it's heavy, it's dense and it's sometimes weary, but I wouldn't say it's depressing, just intense.

i know i've said a million times how much i love siamese twins, and how watching them play it on trilogy was. his metaphors and imagery are fantastic, the melody captures the mood so perfectly. a strange day is another favorite, there are so many days i feel like that! it took me a long time to warm up to 100 years, but after experiencing it live, its really grown on me. the hanging garden i've really gotten into recently, and it's becoming a new fav. track.

I first heard 100 years on Concert. I rmember it well, it was a damp, grey afernoon, I was at college between lessons and had it on my walkman. It made a big impression on me and so I went out and bought Pornography, I was at this time buying the back catalogue up (I was 17 and it was October 1988).
I can't be constructive about Pornography...I just love it too much. (that's Pornography as a proper noun).

What is 14 years amongst friends? Just think, when you were still in a diaper/nappy I was starting to be full of melancholic angst. So we were both full of crap.

Go Crimson! I love Ponorgraphy! Like the Cure's album by the same name too. It is one of the best albums out there. The mood is so fitting and there's not a song out of place. 100 Years is fab, as are Hanging Garden, A Short Term Effect, A Strange Day...*grabs Trilogy dvd and sticks it in computers dvd player* I think I'll start with Ponography!

I can't wait to see what the live stuff on the re-issue is like. it'll be interesting to see if you can hear them falling apart and hating each other on stage. Though I'm sure the Trilogy show will probably sound better, I'm sooo looking forward to hearing the originals!

You can clearly hear Germaine Greer in the rush of voices in Pornography the track, but I only knew it was her after Robert mentioned her in an interview.

Just a quick note:
One Hundred Years is one of my favorite things to play on bass... just because I get to play it so viciously. There were a lot of bad tabs for it on the net, so I took to figuring it out myself because I wanted to play it sooo bad. I can't say it's 100%, but hey. I get to wander around in circles and pretend I'm a bada.ss...
