Listen – it is breathing, in the air it manifests
Sotto and in rhythm, between each beat it rests
The childish pop of spring and punk’s summer adolescence
Become a string adagio, harmonious in it’s presence
A requiem for August devoid of spite or gall
She is the gentle calm in the orchestra of the fall.
Look – she is most radiant in her very imperfection
The fashion house of nature reveals autumns collection
Gone the frills and petticoats, the ribbons and the bows
Farewell bikini, sunglasses and varnished nails on toes
Natures sultry striptease, not naked but undressing
September offers just a glimpse, October keeps us guessing.
You can feel her breathing as the breeze is in your hair
With the warmth her iciness does battle in the air
In motherhood resplendent, she kneels – her head is bowed
In deference to winter, she is knowing but not proud
Though spring was far too flighty and summer lived too fast
The year has grown to adulthood and is a woman now at last.

That was really nice! If you're interested we have a thread in Lost called 'It had to happen eventually...depressing poetry' where bordies can post their depressing poems. We also have one called 'cheery poetry' for those who have written... well, cheery poems.

That was lovely... September offers just a glimpse, October keeps us guessing. I loved that line!
It's okay, Cu!t, this is the artists/poets forum anyhow!

To be absolutely honest, I wrote it for a competition (and I won!) so it's not my usual style. I think of it as being like a single release rather than an album track!

MuchMusic used to have a show called RSVP (requested songs for video play) I sent in a request for them to play Lovesong for a Vampire by Annie Lennox and sent my Lestat poem with it. Not only did they play the video but I won a video game too!
