an extract from some journals of Albert Camus... A slender moon gives the sky a light without brilliance which lights up the turbulent water with it's reflection. Once again I look, as I have for years, at the designs that the foam and the wake make on the surface of the water, this lace which is incessantly made and unmade, this liquid marble... and once more I look for the exact comparison that will hold for me this marvellous flowering of sea, water and light that has escaped me for so long now. Still in vain. For me it's a recurring symbol.

isnt it... all the times between ireland and england on the ferry i used to watch the patterns the water would make as the ship cut it's way through, under moonlight especially... it was always fascinating... and when i came accross that bit in a book i had from the library i had to keep a copy of it! i've still got the note book i wrote all the quotes i liked in! (10 years later!)

i've never seen it in moonlight, but i love how that looks too. i rode the ferry once, and the whole time, i just stared at the water, thinking how amazing it was.

listening to the rain whilst sleeping is the best. my other fav is watching the snow fall at night, and how everything looks in the morning, before it's all spoiled by shoveling and plowing. the world is calm and bright and fluffy. ooo, and when we have freezing rain, and the trees get caked in ice, that's also neat. everything is encased in a icicle, and it's just amazing. wow, for someone who hates winter i sure do like watching it

I love when we get ice storms. Except if the power goes out... but if it doesn't it's very pretty.
