but wait, the plot thickens!
roger updated: "( Let me clarify, this is not a press release it's merely a response to statements on other sites. When I say it was sad to find out the way I did I mean by reading of festival announcements on official festival sites without knowing about them. )"
maybe its all a terrible misunderstanding? huh? am i grasping at straws? *stops beating dead horse*

definitely makes sense, ghani... I don't want to sound callous about perry & roger's departure because I love them both- but I'm not really worried that the cure is nearing the end... there was mention of a new album & 5 new songs- so as long as robert & simon are there, it'll be okay... (I guess technically the cure could still exist even if it's just robert, but to me, simon is half the sound.)
I just hope perry joins another band or starts his own project so we can have more music to follow!

I think it's time for Robert to clarify...
Maybe I should stay off of the internet for the next week or so, until everything clears itself up? You know I can't...

(I guess technically the cure could still exist even if it's just robert, but to me, simon is half the sound.) Oh, I definitely agree about the whole Simon/Robert thing. If Simon leaves... I'm worried that Robert will keep on replacing members and churning out albums, but that they won't really be "The Cure" anymore. That slowly The Cure will fade away into irrelevance. I don't know why I feel like this. I remind myself that some of the band's best work has come after odd, highly emotional situations like these. Robert has admitted to breaking off friendships and whatnot in the past in order fuel his creativity (I definitely don't think that's why Roger and Perry(?) are out, though). And I remind myself that Robert probably isn't capable of putting out crap in the first place, so...

ha! I can't even stay off the net for a few HOURS, especially on days like today! one thing's for sure- the sound IS going to change, so it'll be interesting to see what robert/simon/jason create.

now roger's site says:
>> What is done is done however it happened. I was in a group and now I'm not ..... Thanks to everyone who has emailed me, I will reply to you all and I wish The Cure all the success they deserve. <<
and I'm sure you've seen on cof:
>> Elaborating to Billboard.com today, O'Donnell reveals that he was informed by Smith that he is transforming the Cure into a three-piece, backed only by bassist Simon Gallup and drummer Jason Cooper. "There's not really much you can say when you are the fifth member," he says, adding that he found out about the Cure's upcoming live dates via a fan Web site. <<

I wondered if he was going back to a three piece... it shall be interesting indeed. Roger's a good guy: "katie, thanks so much the love and kind words mean a lot to me. i hope you will support me in trying to get back to the truth in my music , im sad for the cure its been a big part of my life , love roger" "it was a sad thing katie , thanks for you kind words they mean more than you can imagine. ive always approached what i do in music with love but the last two years have been very difficult and i was starting to lose sight of why i was doing it ... so now to get back to what i love , love roger" Why did he reply twice? The world may never know. It was TOUGH. The POWER (I wrote "pour"?) mysterious went out today... we didn't get it back on for THREE hours. And I didn't get to go pick out my senior pictures . But I had to sit there and wonder WHAT WAS GOING ON and if Roger had written back.

I wish I knew what he wrote to Justina. She's out of town, so she hasn't had a chance to forward it to me. She asked him why he left the band (she hadn't connected the dots yet, hehe), and he said he was fired. She also mentioned that she hoped to see him on tour in Seattle sometime, and he thinks he'll be there next fall. I'm already excited to see him!
