it's perry that I really feel sorry for, having been there since kiss me, then elevated to full band member status in 90 when needed, then dropped after 15 years.... It really does make you wonder what is going on... I know the line-up was together 10 years, but it had just produced its best album!!

well, our perry sent this to chris for posting on his fansite:
I'm really overwhelmed by the amount of fans who have written to me and you and to all the Cure websites - I never knew I had that much of an impact or how important a part of The Cure I was for so many people. Please pass on my thanks to everyone for their suport and compliments and their best wishes for my future. I wish the band well and bear no grudge. I have no definite plans at this time but will inform you if I become involved in any other projects. Once again - Thank You!
Perry

sad thing is, perry probably won't bare a grudge, despite the fact he's probably got a right to.... but hey, we don't know the inner workings of everything....
(it still feels odd though)

I really wish I knew more of the "Perry" story. And it's true, I bet he won't hold a grudge. I imagine Perry's taking it a lot like I would. "Well, I was lucky to get to be in the band in the first place. We had some good times, and now Robert's got his reasons..."
I can't believe some of the things people are saying on the official messageboard! Okay, so Perry's not Porl, but he definitely does not suck! I think he brought more to the band than Porl did, just in different ways (or perhaps I'm just biased, not having lived through the Porl stage). Maybe it's just because I'm not a musician, but I've never heard anything wrong with Perry's guitar parts. There's no way Robert would've kept him so long if he couldn't get the job done.

I agree with that Ghani, Lol wasn't good enough so he got the boot, it would've been the same with Perry... I think comparing Perry and Porl was always unfair because they had such contrasting styles, but they worked really well in tandem on Wish...

Definitely. I really wish I could've been a fan during the Wish era... oh, to wish impossible things!
I wonder how many times I can write "wish" in one sentence...

3 wishes could be lucky!
and I've always thought of To Wish Impossible Things as being Perry's, whereas Cut as being Porl's...

somehow this does make sense.... trust Robert to make some sense of it...
CHANGE
5/29/2005 10:07:24 AM - by CURE:ROBERT
Change alone is eternal, perpetual, immortal. - Arthur Schopenhauer
THERE ARE NOW THREE PEOPLE IN THE BAND: ME, SIMON AND JASON - AND THERE ARE VERY GOOD REASONS FOR THIS CHANGE... REASONS WE ALL KNOW, UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT
THE RS/SG/JC/PB/RO'D CURE LINE-UP WAS TOGETHER FOR TEN GORGEOUS YEARS - WILD MOOD SWINGS, FIVE SWING LIVE, (GALORE), BLOODFLOWERS, (GREATEST HITS), TRILOGY, THE CURE - A SHARED LEGACY TO BE VERY PROUD OF INDEED
BUT NONE OF US CAN BELIEVE IT IS BETTER TO TREAD WATER MARK TIME BITE LIP RATHER THAN EMBRACE CHANGE WHEN CHANGE ARRIVES
SO ONWARD... LOVE RS
(still doesn't make up for the snidey COF remarks though!)

I'm so sad I understand Roger leaving...he has his own goals now, etc. But Perry...? Eh. :/ I wish both of them would stay! I e-mailed Roger, though, and he e-mailed me back!

Robert's comment was calming, even though it didn't say THAT MUCH. Sure, we all figured that there were "VERY GOOD REASONS FOR THIS CHANGE," but to hear it from the Man himself is something different. He always seems to know just what to say...

It's upsetting to hear of Roger and Perry's absence.. I think they both have brought forth great new things to The Cure. However, they have been erased from that picture now--maybe for the best, I dunno. But I'm sure Robert wants just what's best for the band. And hopefully who ever will fill their place will complete The Cure.
