I hate when they call him "fat Bob"... Seriously, I don't know why people complain about the hair and the clothes, and the colours. Either you like it or you don't, and if you don't...simply ignore it. Other people might call them "fashionable", but I don't see Robert Smith going on about how he cares about what he's wearing...and what other people think about it.... What happened to the music? Nowadays it's all about what people are wearing, and how they look... The new album kicks ass, and that's what matters. I couldn't imagine them not having released it, because I listen to it nearly every day. It's amazing. So they see us as Robert Smith's little followers? Why not great people who all share something in common...loving great music? While I don't mind people bugging me about liking The Cure so much...I don't want to be seen as someone who is blindly following a group. The difference between me and them is that I know what's up ahead. I don't need people to tell me how beautiful the music really is...because I know. I know The Cure isn't exactly an obscure band anymore. They may have gone through the mainstream a bit, but the difference is...they haven't been swayed. They don't change to gain popularity. They sing what they want, do what they want, cut their hair the way they want. They do what's comfortable for them, but at the same time they consider the fans. They've earned my respect. I think it's time that people wake up and learn to appreciate the finer things. They're taking this amazing music for granted. Keep quiet and enjoy it while you can. People spend more time complaining about music, rather than bothering to try new things. All that time...they could've used to discover something that fits them. Oh well. lol, I'm glad a lot of people commented are against what the author said...otherwise, AHH. (sorry for the rant that probably didn't make sense)

Makes perfect sence! Besides I would rather be a Cure fan than a Britney Spears or Justin Timberlake wannabe any day!

And do I smell a Dandy Boy lurking about? Ian Kirwan, London Whatever about fashionable, think some of it might have something to do with the fact they've released their best album since 1989! These things always seem to run round in circles, and soon it'll be The Smiths, then a return to Neil Young/grunge, then a British Kinks/Beatles thing, only to be replaced with a New York/Television thing (by which point the Strokes and Interpol will be the fashionable influences and The Cure will be grandaddies!) But seriously, Mark's hit the nail on the head by commenting on the sheer multifacetedness (my new invented word for today!) of The Cure. The closest I can think of today as a comparison is Radiohead, but I can't imagine Thom Yorke delivering anything as glorious as Just Like Heaven or Lovesong. It's even more remarkable that they released so many albums during the 80s (almost one a year!) and managed to sound so varied. But then the line-up changes pre 85 might have had a lot to do with that! Dandy you are the man! ;D

rumbled! though rumbled sounds as though i said something bad.... i think the guy does really like the cure, he just found the idea that they were 'fashionable' quiet laughable... liked the way he pointed out that all the young pretenders just pick up on various parts of the cure sound without encompassing the whole spectrum of cure sounds.... right, i'm off to bed, falling asleep as i type here!

having said that, it is quite common here for people to just stick 'fat' in front of someones name for a nickname... the amount of peeps i know that are 'fat rob' or 'big dave'.... it's not really an insult when used in that way...
