i'll try my best 1.) Easy Cure Extra credit: Cut Here... i guess 2.) Lovesong (i dunno the second part...) 3.) i have no idea 4.) Porl 5.) Africa, Russia... (is that a continent)?.. Antartica 6.) 10... (that's a guess, and me counting all the members i can think of) 7.) i dunno 8.) dunno that one either (keyboards)... i knew that one... 9.) songs.. i dunno, i don't have it 10.) dunno the first or second part okay.... i 100% agree with what sangre said...... so what if someone could answer all these quesitons?... i mean that doesn't make them a true cure fan... and i'm not saying this becuase i didn't know all the answers. a real fan is for the music and them, the music speaks to their heart... or i guess that's how i would say it... and me, since i'm a younger cure fan, it doens't make me less of a fan or not a ture fan becuase of my age.... although i'm very sad i missed out on a lot of years ...

yeah, i'm not anti-fun purry. I just didn't like the fact that to you a person needs to know alot of pointless personal information about a band to be a "true fan" i just didn't think that's important to love something with all your heart. Hell if know all the answers means your a true fan then i'm not. Hell! i didn't even know what Robert LOOKED like until 11th grade! all i knew is that his songs and voice spoke to me in a way that NOTHING had ever had before. so that was my point. sorry you missed it.

Agree. The only thing you have to know to be "real" fan is their music. If you like their music, that's all you need to know.

It’s the Cure Trivia Contest (and Answers)
The wait is over! Included with these original questions are the answers you have fretted and mulled over for the past week. Good work on answering these questions and I hope it was fun. It sure was fun for me. So fun, that I’m coming up with a part 2, a part 3, heck, a part infinity -- anything to get me out of washing the dishes, walking the dog, anything that requires me doing any actual work…
So class, eyes forward, number 2 pencils on the desk. Spelling and punctuation count!
Let’s begin….
1.) An easy one at first: what was the original name of The Cure?
Answer: The Easy Cure
Score: Award yourself 1 point if you got it right (I mean it was easy, I gave you a clue in the clue) but there were also two secret answers both worth 2 point each: Malice and Cult Hero.
Extra credit: If you mix the letters of “The Cure” around you can come up with a title to one of their songs. Robert at one point thought this would be their last song. What is the name of this song?
Answer: “Cut Here”
Score: Award yourself 3 points if you got this right as wordplay can be hard for some people.
2.) What song was Robert’s wedding gift to his wife Mary?
Answer: “Lovesong”
Score: Award yourself a point for getting this right.
Extra credit (and a hint): At what position did this song debut on the U.S. charts?
Answer: #2
Score: Award yourself 2 points for getting this one right.
3.) Name the first album Robert can remember purchasing?
Answer: “Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars” by David Bowie.
Score: Award yourself 2 points if you answered Bowie and another 2 points if you answered “Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.”
4.) What member of the Cure, current or former, is Robert’s brother in law?
Answer: Porl Thompson. He is married to Robert’s younger sister, Janet
Score: Give yourself 2 points. One for Janet and one for Porl…
5.) The Cure have performed on 5 continents. Which 2 have they not performed on?
Answer: Africa and Antarctica
Score: Give yourself a point a continent for a total of 2. Answers of “Gowandaland” are incorrect but technically speaking are also correct so give yourself 1 point and the satisfaction of knowing you made me chuckle.
6.) Not including session players and temporary replacements, how many official members has there been in the Cure? (Hint: Some members have switched instruments so be sure not to double count…)
Answer: 12
Answer Explanation: Not including session players or temporary replacements, there have been 4 drummers (LAURENCE (LOL) TOLHURST / CLIFFORD (ANDY) ANDERSON / BORIS WILLIAMS / JASON COOPER), 3 guitar players (ROBERT SMITH / PAUL (PORL) THOMPSON / PERRY (TEDDY) BAMONTE), 4 keyboard players (LAURENCE (LOL) TOLHURST / MATTHIEU HARTLEY / ROGER O'DONNELL / PERRY (TEDDY) BAMONTE) and 3 bass players (MICHAEL DEMPSEY / SIMON GALLUP / PHIL THORNALLEY
***Derek Thompson - bass / Vince Ely - drums / Roberto Suave - bass have been short term replacements and were never official members***
Score: Give yourself 4 points for this one as it was hard and I needed to look up the answer myself.
7.) Robert is allergic to what food?
Answer: Garlic
Score: Give yourself 2 points for answering this correctly.
8.) What song was Lol Tolhurst unable to play on drums?
Answer: “Let’s Go To Bed”
Score: Give yourself 3 points if you answered this correctly
Extra credit: Because of this, he switched over to playing which instrument?
Answer: Keyboards
Score: A single point for the obvious…
9.) The B-Side to “Charlotte Sometimes” is?
Answer: “Splintered in Her Head”
Score: Give yourself 2 points if you were correct. 3 points if you actually own the vinyl.
10.) Robert’s side project The Glove is a collaboration with?
Answer: Steve Severin.
Score: Give yourself 4 points if you answered it correctly. Answers of “Siouxsie and the Banshees” are incorrect but since you are close, give yourself 2 points.
Extra credit: What is the name of the female vocalist on this album (hint: it is a one word name)?
Answer: Landray
Score: Give yourself another 4 points. Answers of “Siouxsie” do not count on this one. Sorry.
How did you do?
Score = 0 – 10: U R 2 KOOL, I LIKE THE NEW LIMP BIZKIT 2!!!!
Score = 10 – 20: In your opinion “Mixed Up” is the greatest Cure album ever! There is still hope for you however. Lock yourself in a room in the dark and listen to “Pornography” over and over on your headphones. In a couple of weeks you will emerge pale, wane, and in the serious need for some existential conversation. Way to go convert!
Score = 20 – 30: Yes, I know, you sneer at those little ones who got less than you on the quiz with contempt, so curl that upper lip covered in “Jane Cosmetics #3 Reddest” lipstick (Robert’s favorite brand, but then you already knew that). Way to go!
Score = 30 - 35: Pack your bags, we’re headed to Argentina for an exclusive concert for the true fans in Leonino’s own backyard!!!!
Score = 35-40: You have the dubious honor of knowing more about Robert Smith than Robert Smith probably knows about himself. We think its time for some intervention. Bravo, you are indeed the ultimate Cure fan, either that, or you are some sicko internet stalker that needs some real friends. Either way, good work!!!!!
Thanks for playing! I hope you had fun!
-Purrkins
